// TRANSMISSION: ORIGIN & PULSE — CONTEXT UPDATE //

We know not everyone who wanted a Raven got one.
We know that stings.
We’ve been thinking a lot about how to talk about this in a way that gives you some real context, not just surface-level updates. So this is us trying to pull back the curtain a bit and explain where we’re at.
Why Raven Is Limited
Raven is part of our Origin Line.
That means it’s handmade, built in small batches, and not something we can just scale overnight. We know that’s frustrating. It’s frustrating for us too.
This isn’t the long-term vision. But it is where we are right now.
How This Started
Our founder couldn’t find a bag that checked all the boxes. With a background in product design and new product introduction, he started thinking about what it would look like to bring something like that to life.
He didn’t build the bag himself — and couldn’t. This only became real because he partnered with a talented maker who could take the idea and turn it into something physical.
There were no expectations. No idea if anyone else would care. Everything was self-funded and prototype after prototype began to shape the bag that you know now as the Raven. It represented a different idea of what a bag can be.
IMBARU was founded to answer this simple question: does this bag make sense to anyone beyond just us?
What Happened Next
The answer caught us off guard.
In a good way, but also in a way that forced everything to move faster than we expected. There was more interest than we were prepared for, and we felt that immediately. With our second run launch today, it's clear that the demand has grown even faster than we predicted.
We want to be very clear about something: We don't believe in creating artificial scarcity.
If we could make enough Ravens for everyone who wants one, we would. But with a product like this, built by hand, that just isn’t realistic without compromising what makes Raven so special.
The Path Forward
In order to scale up production, we need to build things differently; but we had to figure out how to grow without losing what made Raven special in the first place.
That’s where the idea of two product lines came from:
Origin Line will always be the place where we push things. Handmade builds, smaller runs, more experimental.
Pulse Line is how we scale. More accessible, more available, and built in a way that allows us to meet the growing demand.
The goal isn’t to replace one with the other. It’s to give people options while keeping the core of what we care about intact.
What We’ve Been Doing
We know it’s been quiet.
That hasn’t been us disappearing. It’s been us deep in the work — searching, reviewing, and qualifying the right manufacturing partners. Taking our time so we don’t rush into something we’ll regret later.
We’re finally at the point where things start to move.
Next week, we’re heading to Indonesia.
This is where we sit down with the factory we’ve selected, lock in production plans, and take the next real step forward.
This trip is what allows us to move beyond small runs.
This is how we start to scale.
Introducing: Corvus
Corvus is going to be the first product from the Pulse Line.
The easiest way to think about it is this: Corvus is to Pulse what Raven is to Origin.
We sat down to work with Raven's core design and with these new requirements. We iterated with materials to make sure we got the right feel and function. The right balance of durability and style.
Most importantly to us, it still feels special on its own. When you see it and feel it, Corvus unmistakably shares the same DNA as Raven- with different materials and hardware so we can actually scale it and get it into more hands.
Instead of Cobra hardware, we’ll be using Wetool.
Instead of Dyneema, we’ll be working with Dimension Polyant fabrics.
There are also changes happening behind the scenes to make manufacturing smoother and more repeatable.
The biggest difference is scale. We’re talking hundreds of units instead of dozens.
What Comes Next
We know this raises a lot of new questions.
We want to answer them. We just don’t want to rush answers before we have everything locked in.
Once we’re back from Indonesia and things are confirmed, we’ll share more about Corvus. Full details. No teasing. No guessing.
In the meantime, take a look at the photos below and see what stands out to you.
Final Thoughts
We’re a small team trying to build something real, and we’re doing it as thoughtfully as we can.
That means things won’t always move as fast as we’d like. It also means we’re going to be honest when things aren’t perfect.
We really do appreciate all of it. The support, the feedback, even the criticism. It all helps.
Thanks for sticking with us.
